Here at Lighthouse Preschool we believe the environment that the children spend their day in is the second teacher in the classroom. Materials are placed in a way that children can naturally learn through play. Lots of time and thought has gone into providing the right materials in the right place. Everything in the environment has a home with a label so the children can easily put away and find the things that they need. New materials are also provided weekly based on the children’s interest.
Lighthouse Preschool takes great pride in family involvement. We welcome all of our families to attend social gatherings and fun activities in the classroom. Throughout the year we have several activities where we invite parents and families to attend. Children are always super excited to have their parents and family here for special events.
Parents are always welcomed to spend time at pick up or drop or any other time to play with your child at school. Children love to share with their parents their favorite toy, activity or book in the classroom. This is a great time for parents to spend time in the classroom with their child to gain a better understanding of their child’s day. Throughout the year we would also love to hear your ideas about activities that we could do in the classroom. If you have a special talent or skill that you would like to share with the children, that would be wonderful too.
The State of Nebraska requires all child care facilities to serve nutritionally balanced meals. Lighthouse Preschool is also a part of Midwest Childcare Association food program. The food program allows in home childcare providers to receive reimbursement for the meals served each day. An evaluator from Midwest comes to Lighthouse Preschool 4 times a year to insure that healthy meals are provided.
Lighthouse Preschool has been recognized by Nebraska Step Up to Quality for its commitment to quality child care and education. This means we are going above and beyond state licensing requirements to better serve the needs of your child and prepare them for success.
